Having worked in a variety of leadership roles with international companies in Malta, Azzopardi is well-positioned to lead Aviaserve through its next phase. His career began after graduating as a mechanical engineer from the University of Malta, followed by a master’s degree in Engineering Management at Brunel University in London. Today, he also holds the prestigious Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification a mark of expertise in process improvement that has shaped much of his professional philosophy.
“I’m honoured to take on this role at Aviaserve,” he says. “It’s a company with a solid foundation and strong people, and I’m looking forward to working alongside the team to build on that together.”
His approach to leadership is grounded in consistency, collaboration, and empowerment. “Progress doesn’t happen in big, sudden jumps. It happens through small, daily improvements. That’s what I’ve always believed and it’s what I bring with me to Aviaserve.”
Over the past 18 years, Azzopardi has held a wide range of positions, including Project Engineer, Continuous Improvement & Process Quality Engineer, Planning Manager, Process Manager, Head of Strategic Development and Profit Ability, and most recently, General Manager at Delta (Malta) Ltd.
Each step of his journey has deepened his commitment to aligning strategy with execution, ensuring that teams are not just performing but thriving.
“As a leader, it’s my job to make sure people have what they need to succeed. That means providing the right skills, materials, knowledge, time, and a safe and supportive environment. When those elements are in place, teams perform at their best and the results speak for themselves.”
This philosophy is captured in a quote he personally developed and often shares with others:
“A weak leader threatens the team to achieve an impossible target. A great leader leads the team to achieve a challenging target.”
While Azzopardi is keen on improving day-to-day performance, he is also highly strategic focused on long-term value creation, business resilience, and continuous performance measurement. His leadership is data-informed, but people-driven.
“It’s about creating clarity,” he explains. “We put systems in place, track performance, set challenging but realistic targets and then we support people in reaching them. That’s how we create alignment and accountability across an organisation.”
At Aviaserve, he plans to further strengthen the company’s core operations while investing in the culture, systems, and strategic direction needed for the future. “The aviation sector is always changing and we need to be agile, focused, and forward-thinking if we want to remain leaders in the field.”
As he begins this new chapter, Azzopardi remains grounded in the values that have defined his career: trust in his people, a passion for operational excellence, and the belief that meaningful growth starts with the small steps taken each day.
“There’s so much potential here at Aviaserve, And I’m excited to unlock it together, as a team.”
